I’m making a tablecloth. I decided to record the progress day by day.
Day 1.

I had to unravel it once. It seemed that I had been crocheting too loosely. I couldn’t do any more; my eyes were closing.
Day 2
I managed to crochet a little in the car as well.

There was quite a lot of driving, so I didn’t have much time for crocheting. Besides, my eyes started to hurt.

I managed to do a little more at home. My eyes can’t take it. They hurt. This is fine crochet work. I realised some time ago that I need new glasses, but they are too expensive, especially in these difficult times when there is hardly any work.
I stopped when the diameter was about 38 cm and I had completed 23 rounds.
Day 3

The picture says it all. This round consists mainly of double crochets, with very few chain stitches. When it is the other way round, it takes less time. But the circumference keeps growing, and eventually one round can take… several hours 🤭
The diameter is 51 cm.
Day 4.
Logic and practice tell me that it’s difficult to do several things at once. Your attention wanders and so on. Maybe I had to take a passenger somewhere in between, and this happened when I started crocheting again while waiting for the next ride. Whatever. In any case, an hour or more was wasted.

Happy with the day’s progress
All in all, I’m happy with today’s progress. If only it weren’t for my eyes…
Day 5
It’s progressing, it’s progressing. Each new round takes longer. I had actually completed 36 rounds yesterday, but my eyes were practically rolling in my head, so I somehow thought the last one was round 37.

Here I am saying that it will be chain stitches from now on. There is a section of chain stitches, then another section of double crochets, alternating like this until the end. But my eyes are fine today. Clearly, I can’t work in a half-dark room, and a room lit only by a night light is half-dark. I discovered that there is also a light on the ceiling, and it works perfectly well 🙂
Day 6

Better late than never. I realised that I need to use a smaller hook because I crochet rather loosely. Until now I had been using a 1.9 mm hook; now I’m using a 1.5 mm one. The previous version is still there—I’ll unravel it if I run short of thread.
I’ll ask my boss for a day off so I can catch up. But my boss is the most unpleasant person in the world, so I’m not sure I’ll get the day off… My boss, my one and only boss, is me. Always breathing down my neck like a slave driver 😁
Day 7
There’s nothing more to say. I’m hurrying to catch up. But quality control is hard at work 🐱
Day 8
I’m starting to catch up. I’ll take a few days off to make up for the lost time.

Days 9 and 10

This round consisted mainly of chain stitches, with very few double crochets. The further I get, the longer it takes to complete a round.

Words are unnecessary.

I have caught up with the schedule. At least I think so. Today also involved 12 hours of continuous crocheting.
Day 11
Crocheting one round takes longer and longer. I watched two episodes of the Chernobyl series and completed two rounds. My table is on the smaller side, with a diameter of 100 cm.

I put a stitch marker at the beginning of the round. It’s more fun when I can see how much I still have left to do. And even more fun when I don’t keep checking and suddenly I’m almost at the end.
Eleven days down, ten more to go. That means at least five rounds a day. I’ll have to manage somehow, perhaps with another crochet-marathon day. Piece of cake 🤣.
The last round, the last pattern repeat, the last stitch. It’s 12:21. This is all that was left from 500 g of yarn.
