One evening my son informed me that his younger daughter wanted a hat just like the one I had made for her older sister. Only PINK. So I made her a pink one. The nuisance is that I do not have a hat block. Somehow I manage with bowls, and for this last one I even enlisted a flowerpot. But it is not the same. And is there really any point starching it and shaping it when five minutes after it is put on it looks like a heap of wrinkles anyway? They are still little children and apparently the concept of keeping clothes neat while wearing them has not yet arrived. I put wire around the brim as well; two minutes later it was bent in every possible direction. I concluded I had worked far too hard for nothing.
