I once asked my younger daughter-in-law what I could crochet or knit for her. She said, “Surprise me.” That was probably a year ago. I have finally arrived at the result. Never mind that the warm weather has gone for now. Summer is only halfway through and surely there will be warm days again 🌞
I started with the skirt. I used Drops Safran, 100% cotton, 50 g = 167 m, and a 3 mm crochet hook. The pattern is simple and the beginning goes quickly. I made it shorter, and by the final rounds one round took about half an hour to crochet. It is a full circle skirt, after all.
I made the lining from mesh Lycra. I simply gathered it and sewed it to the waistband.

The idea for the top came from Pinterest.
I made it alongside a tutorial I found on YouTube. Company makes things easier. It is a good tutorial too, because it shows A, B, C and D cup sizes separately and includes measurements. When you are not making something for yourself or for someone with your measurements, that is useful 😊
Top video tutorial 👍
This is how I made mine.
And I hope I surprise my daughter-in-law, and that she actually wears them too. I know the things I make tend to end up sitting at the bottom of a wardrobe, but perhaps this time… Maybe I am being too optimistic, but hope is the last thing to die.
