This year I decided that my 13-year-old granddaughter would get something truly special for her birthday: a clothing set crocheted by me. I made her a beige two-piece set consisting of a top and afour-tiered skirt in 100%cotton yarn, made with love and patience.
👚 The top is crocheted horizontally so that it stays stretchy and comfortable. At the back I made azigzag lace-up fastening and the shoulder straps tiebehind the neck.
👗 The skirt hasfour tiers, airy but with enough structure to hold their shape. At the waist there is atie fastening, so the waist can be adjusted a little.
🌿 I photographed her outdoors. Thewildflower background is a favourite of both hers and mine. It feels exactly as though she belongs to the summer in her own rhythm.
✨ A little about the technique
To join the tiers, I usedfilet crochet, with anopen mesh between each tier made by alternating1 treble crochet and 2 chain stitches. This keeps the skirt light, fluid and elegant.

My catBim came over for a purr too, which is a sure sign that the work passed inspection. (Bim really is my cat, and he has permission to appear in every post.)
