Õhuline rahu – Airy Calm: a Romantic Home Decoration

I made these cushions simply because I needed something soft, peaceful and a little old-fashioned. Not that fashionable ‘minimalist beige’ being shoved everywhere at the moment, but something genuinely cosy.

Filet crochet is one of those techniques that looks simple from the outside. In reality, it means endless counting, unravelling and quiet swearing to yourself. 😄

I crocheted the cushion covers from cotton thread and hand-sewed them onto the cushion bases. I wanted them to feel a little romantic and old-fashioned, like the crochet work that used to be in Grandma’s room, only in a slightly softer, more contemporary form.

What I like most about them is the play of light and shadow through the pattern. On the sofa they look completely different from how they do lying flat on a table.

And honestly, they look far more expensive than people usually want to pay for handmade work. But that is an old song by now. 😄

Materials:
100% cotton
polyester filling

Measurements:
40 × 40 cm

Lovely as a gift or for refreshing a room, especially for anyone who appreciates genuine handmade work, a calm style and delicate lace.

🧵 Maimu says:
‘Every stitch was made with heart. I saw it myself.’

🐾 And Bim simply sat on the cushion until it was photographed. As always.
