When autumn brings golden leaves and crisp mornings, one lovely set comes to the rescue: ‘Sügiskuld’. The hand-knitted hat and scarf keep a little head and neck wonderfully warm, while the golden shade brings a smile even on the greyest day.

The joy of making it yourself
If you feel you’d like a set just like this for yourself or your child, I’m happy to share the instructions. There are step-by-step videos on YouTube that you can follow to knit the hat and scarf yourself:
The patterns are simple and suitable even for a beginner. All you need is a little yarn, knitting needles and patience. When it is finished, you’ll know exactly the same joy I felt with the ‘Sügiskuld’ set. Handicraft is more than work. It is a moment when time pauses and the soul rests.
Every stitch in this hat and scarf tells a story of warmth, care and creativity. This is genuine Estonian handicraft: slow, peaceful and made with heart. And best of all, when someone asks, ‘Where did you get that?’, you can proudly answer, ‘I made it myself!’

Maimu and Bim have their say
Maimu laughed as she watched Bim proudly wearing the golden hat and scarf: ‘There you are, cat-boy, now you really are autumn gold! If I take you for a walk in the park, everyone will think you’re the official mascot of autumn.’
Bim stretched out in the pile of leaves and rumbled in his cat way: ‘Meow, but only if I get a stroke from a sunbeam too…’
